Chapman Education offered great feedback, helped me cut down my college essay and brainstorm ideas for supplements! It wasn’t stressful at all and made me feel much more confident in my applications.

Meeting students where they are.

Transfer is its own process, with its own timelines and its own priorities. College grades carry more weight than high school grades, credits may or may not carry over, and the most important question is often why. Every meeting looks at the student’s full record, and the focus shifts with how far into college they are. The goal is to make a thoughtful decision, not a reactive one.

Christine Chapman-Fierz

Where are you right now?

First semester to reflect. First year to apply. Second year to reposition. Community college to build.

Pick a stage to see what that review covers.

Before we meet

Before a Profile Review, I ask students to provide:
  • Your college transcript, including courses in progress and planned courses
  • Your high school transcript
  • A list of activities, work, campus involvement, service, family responsibilities, and other meaningful ways you spend your time, from high school to the present
  • One or two writing samples from a recent course
  • Any standardized test scores, if you have them
  • A short note on why you’re considering a transfer and any schools you have in mind
When applicable, students may also share an IEP, 504 Plan, or neuropsychological evaluation so that I can better understand how they learn.
Together, these materials allow me to look at the student as a whole: how they appear on paper, how their college experience has gone, what they want next, and what their voice sounds like.

What you leave with

Questions answered and concerns alleviated, you will leave the Profile Review Meeting with a clear sense of purpose and direction. Depending on when we meet, that might mean a plan for this semester, a list of schools to research, or a full timeline for the transfer application.

The goal is not to rush a decision, but to help the student understand their options and choose with confidence.

Where they started, and where they landed

When the dream school isn’t the right fit

Where she started

She got into her dream school, the University of Michigan. A year and a half in, she was a fantastic student, but she was unhappy socially.

What she built

Rather than settle, she took on the transfer process, and looked hard at what she needed from a campus community.

Where she landed

The University of Pennsylvania, which she chose over Vanderbilt.

Finding his community

Where he started

He began at Lake Forest College, and it wasn’t the right place for him. He wasn’t happy there and hadn’t found his people.

What he built

He got clear on what he wanted: to be closer to home, part of a positive and close-knit community, and challenged by more rigorous academics.

Where he landed

Colby College, a school that checked every box.

Two ways to begin

Students can start with either meeting. Neither is required before the other, so choose the one that fits where you are.

First Inquiry Meeting

$150 30 minutes

Choose this if you’d rather talk it through first, or you’re still deciding whether to move at all.

Share your goals, set realistic expectations, learn how we can help, and leave with a mini road map. No materials needed, and it is open to students and families at every level.

Questions students and families ask

Who is a Transfer Profile Review for?

College students at a four-year school or community college who are considering a move, along with their families. Students can come in sure about transferring or still deciding.

Do I need to start with a First Inquiry Meeting?

No. The First Inquiry Meeting is a short conversation with Christine for students who want to talk through goals and options first. If you’re ready for a full review, book the one-hour Profile Review directly.

What should we submit before the meeting?

College and high school transcripts, a list of activities and work, one or two recent writing samples, any test scores, and a short note on why you’re considering a change.

Is it too early to talk about transferring?

No. In fact, the earlier we meet, the more control the student has over the grades and courses that will shape the application.

Will my credits transfer?

It depends on the schools and the courses. We talk through how to research credit policies and which choices help protect your progress toward a degree.

Do I need to explain why I’m leaving?

Almost every transfer application asks. We’ll talk about how to frame the reason honestly and in a way that looks forward, not back.

What will we leave the meeting with?

A clearer understanding of where the student stands, whether transfer makes sense, the kinds of schools that fit, and specific next steps.
